DOL Provides Additional Clarification of Families First Coronavirus Act
First reported on our blog last Thursday was initial information regarding the Families First Coronavirus Act (here).
We are happy to report that our analysis was on point and a great tool for employers to use moving forward. The only update was the effective date. The law stated it would go into effect 15 days after President Trump signed it, however, the Department of Labor (“DOL”) has the effective date as April 01, 2020. Please make note of the change.
The DOL also issued their own guidance this morning that covers additional areas of the bill, including the tax relief for employers. You can reach the DOL guidance here. This direct page will give you options to view fact sheets for both employers and employees, as well as a questions and answers page.
The DOL also published the updated Family Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”) poster that includes the new leave. You can access the poster here. Please note, this supplement must only be posted if you have less than 500 employees. The poster is not available in other languages as of yet. This poster must be posted by April 07, 2020.
